After the new dual entry battery is put into use, it must be charged and discharged regularly. The purpose of charging is to enable the battery to store electrical energy and restore its capacity in a timely manner to meet the needs of electrical equipment. The purpose of discharge is to timely check the capacity parameters of the battery and promote the activation reaction of the electrode active material. The quality of battery charging and discharging will directly affect the electrical performance and service life of the battery.
There are many methods for charging batteries at present, and choosing a scientifically reasonable charging method will greatly improve the maintenance effect of batteries.
1. Common charging methods for double entry batteries
Constant current charging method
During the charging process, the charging current remains constant, which is called constant current charging method, abbreviated as constant current charging method or equal current charging method. During the charging process, as the battery voltage gradually increases, the charging current gradually decreases. In order to maintain the charging current from decreasing due to the increase in battery terminal voltage, the power supply voltage must be gradually increased during the charging process to keep the charging current constant. This requires a high degree of automation for the charging equipment, and generally simple charging equipment cannot meet the requirements of constant current charging. Constant current charging method, under the maximum allowable charging current of the battery, the larger the charging current, the shorter the charging time. If we consider time, adopting this method is advantageous. But if the charging current remains unchanged in the later stage of charging, most of the current will be used for electrolyzing water, and the electrolyte will produce too many bubbles and boil, which not only consumes electricity, but also easily causes a large amount of active substances on the electrode plate to fall off, resulting in high temperature rise, bending of the electrode plate, rapid decrease in capacity, and premature scrapping. So, this charging method is rarely used.
