Top Ten Problems of Panasonic Battery in UPS Power Supply

UPS power supply mostly uses unprotected lead-acid batteries, which only need to be properly protected and usually have a service life of about 10 years. However, due to various factors, UPS batteries often fail to achieve their design life. Take the battery used in UPS/EPS power supply in the current market for example, usually used for 3-5 years, UPS batteries will be replaced, and some customers will be replaced in two years because of improper protection.

If you want Panasonic batteries to have longer life, you need to pay attention to the following 10 factors that can easily lead to battery damage. In the process of operation and maintenance, avoid as much as possible, so that the battery life will be longer.

Ten major problems causing damage to Panasonic batteries:

1. Contamination by contaminants (e.g. hydrochloric acid, seawater, organic acid, etc.)

2. When Panasonic batteries are charged with excessive current, excessive charging current will charge and detonate the batteries, resulting in a significant shortening of battery life.

3. The deformation of the plate leads to the contact between the positive plate and the cladding plate, which results in short circuit.

4. Contamination deposited on the upper and lower parts of the plate causes short circuit.

5. Overdischarge, the discharge protection circuit of UPS power supply is abnormal, and the load of UPS power supply is too small to form deep discharge of battery.

6. Panasonic batteries are stored for a long time (they are not charged or overcharged during storage), and they will fail if they are not used for a long time.

7. Charging with unqualified chargers, some chargers have no current limiting devices, resulting in battery damage.

8. There is no electrolyte. It has been used for a long time. The electrolyte should be replenished once a year.

9. The proportion of electrolyte is too high.

10. Charging at high temperatures, Panasonic batteries are now constantly improving their skills, and their protection rate is relatively low in the process of operation. However, users must not neglect management because of its "protection-free" nature. Some simple checks and protections are still necessary in order to better ensure the use of Panasonic batteries.
